Maureen O’Brien is an accomplished intellectual property attorney and chemist with extensive experience working with clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and consumer products industries. Maureen focuses her practice on the development and management of intellectual property portfolios, risk assessments, and client counseling.
Maureen works closely with clients to identify protectable subject matter, develop and execute strategies for protecting clients’ innovations globally, and prepare and prosecute patent applications. In addition, Maureen has substantial experience analyzing the risk associated with commercial activities, including the preparation of opinion letters and developing and executing risk-minimization strategies. Prior to joining The Belles Group, P.C., Maureen worked as in-house intellectual property counsel in the pharmaceutical industry at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline and Catalent Pharma Solutions.
Maureen is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is a member of the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association. She received her J.D. from Rutgers Law School Camden, her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Yale University, and her A.B. in Biochemistry from Vassar College.
